Sean Lineen wings it in search of all-important bonus point

GLASGOW Warriors' head coach Sean Lineen has placed a lot of faith in Rob Dewey and DTH van der Merwe by handing them the wing berths for tonight's final Magners League match ahead of the play-offs away to the Scarlets.

The Warriors are already assured of a top-four place, but a bonus point victory this evening at Parc y Scarlets could see them snatch a top-two place and in the process secure a home semi-final. For them to get that bonus point they will need to score four tries in Wales and in Dewey and van der Merwe – who will hopefully be on the end of a number of chances – Lineen has gone for two men who have points to prove.

Both have been frustrated by injuries at various times this term, Dewey having only started five league matches since his move from Ulster last summer and Canadian van der Merwe starting only eight times.

They have both managed to score only three tries apiece in the competition too, but they know a good showing tonight will keep them in Lineen's thoughts for the play-offs, with the wing positions having been quite problematic for the Warriors this term.

It is also a big occasion for back-row Calum Forrester. He is given only his fourth league start of 2009/10 with John Barclay out, and he will be looking to impress, especially with another talented back-row Chris Fusaro joining the club in the summer.

Glasgow have not won in the league away from home since early December, but they have beaten the Scarlets on the last four occasions.

Meanwhile, the Scarlets have Stephen Jones back after an ankle injury and he could reach another milestone tonight. The Wales international needs just seven points to become the highest point scorer in the club and region's history. Elsewhere, Martin Roberts is at scrum-half, Lee Williams gets a start on the wing ahead of Andy Fenby and the experienced Vernon Cooper starts in the second row.

Scarlets Head Coach Nigel Davies said: "Glasgow will come down with plenty to play for so we are expecting a big game with some interesting contests – particularly in the back-row where they have very good players."
