Scottish Youths' Open: Maximillian Rottluff surges ahead at Monifieth

GERMANY'S Maximilian Rottluff powered into the halfway lead during the second round of the Golf Data Lab Scottish Youths' Open championship at Monifieth yesterday.

The 17-year-old from Dusseldorf, seven shots off the pace at the start of round two, reeled off six birdies in a five-under 66 to jump to the front with a level-par 142.

Rottluff heads into the closing 36 holes a stroke ahead of Glenbervie's Fraser Moore, who posted a one-under 70 for a 143.

Max Walz bolstered the German title assault with a 67 to move into third on 144 while Scottish Boys' Strokeplay champion Jack McDonald had a 74 to share sixth on 146.

Defending champion Angus Cappi (159) and Scottish Boys' championship runner-up Ian Redford (155) missed the cut.
