Scottish teenager Jack Carlin takes his second cycling gold

Scottish teenager Jack Carlin struck gold for the second weekend in succession when he launched the Great Britain team sprint squad to victory at the second round of the UCI Track World Cup in Holland, writes Colin Renton.

The 19-year-old from Paisley stormed around the opening lap and handed over to Ryan Owens before Joe Truman competed the job as the Britons qualified fastest with a time of 44.012 seconds in Apeldoorn.

That set up a gold medal showdown with France and, as they had done in Glasgow the previous week, the British trio took the honours, stopping the clock at 43.860 seconds.

Ireland’s Mark Downey won gold in the points race.
