Scottish Cup: Beith try hard to beat the elements

Beith Juniors organised a night shift last night to do everything they can to get their Scottish Cup third round replay with Airdrie United played today.

The Ayrshire Juniors have hired industrial heaters to blow hot air underneath their pitch protection covers, but a 9.30am pitch inspection will determine whether the game can go ahead.

Club secretary John Boal said: "The pitch covers have worked well apart from in one corner of the pitch which needs a bit of extra help so we had a team of people working through Friday night to make that area playable."

"We are doing everything we can to make the pitch playable and hopefully the hard work will pay off. I don't think anyone else could do any more."

Boal was unsure if Maltese official Christian Lautier, who has been appointed to the game, will be carrying out the inspection.
