Scott MacDonald misses cut in title defence

DEFENDING champion Scott MacDonald missed the 36-hole cut in the Scottish senior men's open amateur stroke-play golf championship at Irvine Bogside GC, Ayrshire yesterday.

MacDonald's second round 80 for 163 left him four shots adrift of the qualifying limit.

John Fraser (Royal Burgess) shot the low round of the tournament - a par-matching 71 - for 146 and a one-stroke lead over local member Gordon Mair and England's Charles Banks.
