THIS week we launch a new rugby programme on scotsman.com which will provide extended coverage of the club, professional and international rugby scene in Scotland.

Presented by our chief rugby writer David Ferguson, the first show features interviews with club coaches Craig Chalmers, Ally Donaldson and George Graham, and follows the launch of the RaboDirect PRO12 with the views of league chairman Andy Irvine, as well as Edinburgh and Glasgow captains and coaches, and leading Irish and Welsh characters.

Ferguson commented: “We believe that there should be more coverage of Scottish rugby, and particularly the club game, so while it’s tough to increase space in the newspaper at present we have tried to go out there and produce something extra.

“It has taken a lot of work to put the programme together and we will improve the content as we go, but it’s a good start and I would like to thank Stuart Cameron for his expertise and commitment to the project.

“This programme will feature the full gamut of rugby, including players, coaches, administrators and supporters, and we will be looking for some fun too - watch out for the skills challenges where we pitch club players against the Edinburgh and Glasgow squads.

“We welcome input from clubs across Scotland, with the proviso that the footage is of a professional quality, and will feature lots of tries every week.”
