Scots Hockey chief Robert Heatly steps down

The boss of Scottish Hockey has quit after less than two years in the job.

Robert Heatly MBE, a former Royal Marines officer, has tendered his resignation as chief executive. Heatly, who lives in Balerno, said the organisation’s impending move to Glasgow would be a hindrance for him.

“After careful consideration, I have tendered my resignation based purely on personal grounds,” he said.

“I have significant family and domestic commitments that do not afford me the flexibility and time to undertake a considerable daily commute from Edinburgh to Glasgow and back in addition to my duties as chief executive.

“Therefore, I have prioritised my family accordingly.”

Denis Robertson-Sullivan, chair of the Scottish Hockey Board, said: “I am very sorry to see Robert go but fully understand and appreciate why he has made this decision now.”
