Scots Ferraris lead the way at Knockhill

SCOTS-LED Ferrari team CR Scuderia (CRS) romped to victory in the first of the British GT Championship double-headers at Knockhill. The Ferrari F430 GT3, driven by Jeremy Metcalfe and Luke Hines, won the one-hour race by 5.599seconds.

"We wanted to put on a great show for our Scottish supporters, and that's exactly what we've achieved," CRS team director Andrew Kirkaldy said.

But there was disappointment for the team in yesterday's second 60-minute race which was won by the Ascari driven by England's David Jones and Godffrey Jones.

The lead CRS car, driven by Paddy Shovlin and Michael Cullin, could only manage fifth, 11.289secs behind the winners.

• MUSSELBURGH'S Graham Carroll continued his excellent start to the Scottish Formula Ford Championship when he won his third race in succession at the Knockhill track.

The 17-year-old, who won the opening two rounds on the 1.3-mile Fife circuit a fortnight ago, powered his Van Diemen RF90 home 1.304secs ahead of Alan Kirkaldy, with Edinburgh youngster Craig Brunton third.

Also, Edinburgh's Emily Fletcher finished 14th in the second race of the British Ginetta 20 championship.
