Scots duo to lead Doncaster Knights into battle

Scottish duo Steve Lawrie and Neil Cochrane will lead Doncaster Knights' English Championship title charge this term after they were named captain and vice-captain respectively.

Doncaster director of rugby Lynn Howells has announced that Steve Boden will be club captain with the two Scots leading on the pitch.

Hooker Lawrie featured in 28 games for the club last season after joining from Edinburgh in the summer of 2009 and the former Boroughmuir and Watsonians player has impressed many at the club with his ability to communicate with his team-mates. Former Scotland under-21 cap Cochrane joined Doncaster from Rotherham Titans at the start of the 2008/09 season and has proved a fans' favourite with his hard running and work-rate in the back-row.

With Boden also a hooker like Lawrie it means that only one of them will be on the pitch at once. Howells, the former Edinburgh coach, said: "An armband doesn't guarantee a first-team place in rugby. Boden and Lawrie will both need to work hard and focus on being the first choice."
