Scots aim for better fortunes in Queensland

AFTER a disappointing start to the year in last week's Australian Women's Open, the Scottish contingent will be looking to give a better account of themselves in the ANZ Ladies' Masters.

Clare Queen, the sole Scot to make the cut in Melbourne, isn't in this week's field at Royal Pines Resort in Queensland, with Kylie Walker, Krystle Caithness, Vikki Laing and Carly Booth being joined instead on this occasion by Lynn Kenny.

Also in the line-up is England's Melissa Reid, who launched her 2011 campaign by finishing in a share of second last week after closing with an impressive final round of five-under 68. She and world No 1 Jiyai Shin share the early lead on the 2011 Henderson Money List and Reid wants to keep her momentum going.

Last year, the 23-year-old Derbyshire player missed the cut at the event before securing her maiden professional win at the Turkish Ladies Open. She added ten top-10 finishes over the season to sit third on the money-list but feels her best is yet to come.

"It's a massive year again this year with the Solheim Cup, so my aim is to get my world ranking as high as possible and to be competing for trophies in the latter stages of as many tournaments as I can. I plan to be the best player in the world and that will always be my aim."
