Scotland Under-16s 3 - 0 N Ireland Under-16s: Scots start Victory Shield campaign with resounding win over young Irish

Scotland got their Sky Sports Victory Shield campaign off to a great start with a comprehensive win over Northern Ireland in Livingston last night.

The Scots were thwarted by the fine form of Northern Ireland goalkeeper Conor Thompson for almost the entire first half with the Swindon Town youngster denying Lewis Kidd and Cammy Smith twice. He then made a magnificent double save to deny Stuart Urquhart and Jamie Lindsay. Just when it looked like the first half would end goalless, Celtic striker Denny Johnstone finally beat Thompson with a low shot from a tight angle.

Smith fired home a second for Scotland seven minutes into the second half and four minutes later substitute Jack Kirwan of Celtic lashed into the net.
