Scotland U21's in with a chance of qualification

SCOTLAND teed up a tense Under-21 European Championship play-off return leg against Iceland at Easter Road on Monday following last night's 2-1 defeat in Reykjavik.

Billy Stark's team accorded themselves a very realistic chance of progressing to next summer's finals in Denmark courtesy of Jamie Murphy's early goal. Johann Gudmundsson restored parity before half-time and Almar Ormarsson scored Iceland's second 12 minutes from time.

The tie is now well balanced ahead of Monday's meeting in Edinburgh, with Stark fully expecting a high-octane occasion. "About 2,000 tickets have been sold so far and I would think there will be a good crowd," he said. "We will do better at Easter Road but they will fancy themselves and we have a real game on our hands."

Hibs' Paul Hanlon and David Wortherspoon, along with Hearts' David Templeton, all featured for the Scots last night.
