Scotland next on cards for George Watson’s duo

IT’S been quite a season for the George Watson’s College top girls’ team.

Coached by Scotland captain Linda Clement, the Edinburgh school has won the East of Scotland Knockout, the East and Scottish Under-18 Indoor and Scottish Schools’ Cups.

The latest success came in the Goldenacre Invitation Sevens, with the team defeating hosts George Heriot’s in the final.

The squad was Eilidh Thomson, Ailie Clapperton, Ailsa Small, Charlotte McCallum, Kirsten Peters, Amy Allard-Dunbar, Emma Stephen, Catriona McLellan, Waverley Miller and Jo Prentice.

Kirsten, the Watson’s captain, and Waverley are both in the Scottish Under-18 squad that will be competing – along with the under-16s – at Lillieshall in a Four Nations invitational tournament starting on Thursday.

Both squads will play their counterparts from England, Germany and Netherlands in a round-robin format to determine each team’s position in the pool standings. The teams will then progress to gold and bronze medal matches, where first play second, and third plays fourth.
