Scot Todd lands pro deal at Nottingham

YOUNG Scottish prospect Mitchell Todd has been handed a professional deal by English Championship side Nottingham.

After his final exams in Sports Therapy at Coventry University, the 21-year-old can now focus on a full-time rugby career. While with the Nottingham Academy he has impressed in the British and Irish Cup, during loan stints at Leicester Lions and Birmingham and Solihull and with Scotland under-20 at last year’s World Championships. The second-row said: “It’s always been a dream of mine to be a professional rugby player, and I hope to make an impact.

“I’m setting my goals high, hoping for regular Championship starts now. I know nothing comes easy, but the fact that it is going to be a huge challenge is what makes it great, because it will push me on to improve.”

Nottingham director of rugby Glenn Delaney added: “Mitch is a big physical specimen, and with Craig [Hammond] moving on an opportunity has presented itself for a youngster to step up to his mark.”
