Schools badminton: Pringle follows in family footsteps

BADMINTON: Adam Pringle’s Dad, Iain, played in the 1986 Commonwealth and his sister, Caitlin, is already a Scottish junior international.

This weekend, the Carolside Primary School pupil aims for his first national title as the top seed in the Scottish Under-11 Championships at Scotstoun.

Josh McKay (Mill O’ Forrest Primary School) is second seed and joint third seeds – Michael Farnood (Corstorphine PS) and Kyle Middleton (Seaview PS) – also hope to keep it in the family. Michael’s sister, Lily, won the girls’ singles last year, while Kyle’s sister, Lauren, won the girls’ doubles a year ago.

In the girls’ event, it’s turning into a battle of the Rachels. Rachel Sugden (Jamestown PS) and Rachel Andrew (George Watson’s) are the two top seeds.
