School sport: Under-18 boys take bronze at Kelvin Hall

ATHLETICS: The Scotland under-18 boys team won a team bronze medal at the rearranged Schools International Pentathalon organised by the Scottish Schools Athletic Association at the weekend.

The team of Peter Muirhead (Crieff HS), John Mulhern (St Peter's), Matthew Kerr (Hutchesons' GS) and Andrew Cunningham (Gryffe HS) competed well and were delighted to take a medal in the Kelvin Hall, Glasgow.

England were the overall team winners in the under-18 boys, under-18 girls and under-16 girls events, with Wales the under-16 boys champions.

The best individual Scottish performances came from Andrew Ravenscroft (Duncanrig Secondary), who finished tenth in the under-16 boys while Mhairi Patience from Douglas Academy finished sixth in the girls under-16 event. Peter Muirhead (Crieff HS) was eighth in the boys under-18 event and Sarah Dick from Alloa Academy was 13th in the girls under-16.

The Scottish Indoor Championships for schools are taking place at both age groups tomorrow and Thursday at the same venue.
