School sport: Fettes to defend their Small Schools title

LACROSSE: Fettes' have qualified for the National Small Schools event next month.

The Edinburgh school won the tournament last year and will travel to Oakham School in England to defend the trophy on 13 March after successfully coming through a qualifier.

The North Small Schools regional qualifier took place at Casterton School recently with the top three teams moving through to the main event. Fettes were very determined over the course of the day and it was an experience for the development of the squad in which everyone showed improvements.

The girls worked very well together to finish first in the pool stage and then played Ampleforth in the semi-finals. Fettes won this match 6-1.

In the final St Leonard's put up a good fight before Fettes ran out 4-1 victors.
