School run for Lloyd Saltman

Lloyd Saltman has a share of third place heading into the final round of the European Tour's qualifying school stage one at Wychwood Park near Crewe.

The former Walker Cup player, who has yet to make his mark in the pro game since stepping up in 2007, posted a two-under 70 for a four-under 212.

Saltman finished three shots behind English leader James Heath and is well inside the qualifying zone with 18 holes to play. Elgin exile Joel Hendry still has hope of progressing after a 72 left him in 23rd on 217 but Dubai-based Ross Bain is toiling on the 220 mark after a 75. Craig Sutherland missed the 54-hole cut on 234 after a 79.
