Sapp on song for Rocks as London are demolished

BASKETBALL: Jessie Sapp fired 20 points last night as Glasgow Rocks hammered London Capital 85-62 to tighten their grip on third place in the BBL. The Kelvin Hall side's fifth straight win leaves them 10 points behind new leaders Newcastle, who thrashed chief rivals Sheffield 99-79.

Rocks coach Sterling Davis said his side are determined to keep up the chase. He said: "I've seen us play better but at it's about getting wins now. We want to finish as high as possible."

London, bottom of the table, battled hard but were undone by a 8-0 run that put the Rocks up 42-28 at half-time.

Davis' in-form line-up underlined the gulf in class by rolling as much as 25 points clear in the fourth quarter.
