Sally Watson finds favourable form in North Carolina

SOUTH Queensferry's Sally Watson, one of two Scots in the GB&I team for next month's Curtis Cup match, finished a creditable ninth in the women's colleges golf championship in North Carolina.

The Stanford University student had scores of 73, 71, 76 and 66 for a two-under-par total of 286 at the Country Club course of Landfall, Wilmington in North Carolina.

She finished ahead of the only other British player in the big field, Yorkshire's Jodi Ewart (New Mexico), who scored 73, 71, 72 and 73 for joint 15th place on 289. Ewart, who played with Watson in the 2008 Curtis Cup match over the Old Course, St Andrews, declined selection for this year's match.
