Rugby: Victory gives Haddington bragging rights

Haddington earned the East Lothian bragging rights with a comprehensive 41-12 win over Musselburgh in their RBS Championship B clash at Neilson Park. In the process, the home side banished any threat of a relegation play-off.

Winger James Ferguson scored the first and last of the home side’s five tries. Dan Barber also got a double, and Nick Bell had a try, two penalties and all five conversions for a 21-point haul. Willie Todd and James Doig scored for ’Burgh.

Murrayfield Wanderers signed off with a 27-15 win at Lasswade. Tries from Barry Turnbull, Alex Cox and Stuart Gray, plus three conversions and two penalties by Chris Rhodes eased Wanderers into a comfortable lead and, although Dale Robertson touched down to give the hosts some hope, the Capital side held on for the win.

In the RBS National League, Watsonians lost 24-15 at
Hamilton.
