Super Rugby: Will Genia in line to face Lions

Wallabies scrum-half Will Genia scored a crucial bonus try, stepping up his comeback from injury ahead of the British and Irish Lions tour to Australia, to lead the Queensland Reds to a 34-33 win over the Highlanders in Super Rugby yesterday.

Genia slashed through the Highlanders’ defence from an attacking scrum in the 53rd minute to score the Reds’ fourth try which, with 14 points from the boot of fly-half Quade Cooper, was just enough to consign the Dunedin-based Highlanders to their fifth straight defeat.

The Reds improved their record to 5-2 this season, challenging the ACT Brumbies for supremacy in the Australian conference, while the Highlanders remained the tournament’s only winless team as it enters its seventh round.
