SPFL sponsors Ladbrokes have felt the wrath of Aberdeen supporters after an attempt at humour didn't go down so well on social media.

Tweeting updates of the match at Pittodrie between Aberdeen and Rangers, the bookmakers told their followers that Danny Wilson’s opener was “fantastic news for Derek McInnes” along with a picture of the current Dons boss.

McInnes is favourite to be the next manager of Rangers with the Ibrox club expected to make an approach for the 48-year-old this coming week.

After several fans criticised the tweet, with some Aberdeen supporters accusing the league sponsor of failing to show impartiality, it was deleted and replaced with a more straight-forward post alerting fans to Wilson’s goal.
