Simon Taylor to switch from Stade Francais to Bath

SCOTLAND international forward Simon Taylor will play for Bath next season, the English club announced today.

The former Edinburgh back row, 30, is currently playing for Stade Francais in the French Top 14 but will end his three-year stint in Paris at the close of the season.

Taylor said: "I am very excited to be heading to Bath. (The club] has a fantastic squad with a great style of play. I think that they have real vision for the future, and I want to be a part of that.

"It will also be the first time that I have played in the Guinness Premiership, which is something I am looking forward to.

"Having played in the Magners League and Top 14, the new challenge that another competition brings will be great."

Taylor earned the last of his 68 Scotland caps against England at Twickenham in last year's Six Nations.

He travelled with the British and Irish Lions in 2001 and 2005 but was forced to withdraw through injury at the early stages of both tours.
