Scotland miss out on terrestrial coverage of rugby's new Autumn Nations Cup

Channel 4 to show games involving England, Wales and Ireland

Scotland will open their Autumn Nations Cup schedule with an away game against Italy.

Channel 4 is to show live free-to-air television coverage of rugby’s new Autumn Nations Cup.

But the broadcaster is not screening any games involving Scotland.

The new tournament kicks off in November, replacing the autumn Tests which were cancelled amid travelling restrictions due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Amazon and Channel 4 have struck a TV deal for the eight-team competition.

Channel 4 will show three games involving England, Ireland and Wales. But Scotland supporters will only be able to watch their team live on Amazon Prime Video.

Channel 4 will broadcast highlights from all the rounds. Scotland play their first match away against Italy on 14 November. They then have home matches against France on 22 November and Fiji six days later.

There will be another round of fixtures to decide placing on the weekend of 5-6 December.

Channel 4 will show exclusive live coverage of the opening match between Ireland and Wales on Friday 13 November.

It will also broadcast England v Ireland on 21 November and Ireland’s game against Georgia on 29 November.

Channel 4’s head of sport Pete Andrews said: “We’re delighted to have teamed up with Amazon to bring rugby fans this fantastic tournament.”
