Scotland discuss World Cup friendly double-header with potential last-16 opponents
Duo could face each other in latter stages of tournament
Scotland are in talks with France to play home and away warm-up games ahead of next year's Rugby World Cup.
The games would take place in late August and/or early September ahead of the tournament in Australia which kicks off on October 1, 2027.
The sides met each other twice before the 2023 Rugby World Cup, with Scotland beating France 25-21 at Murrayfield and then losing 30-27 in Saint-Etienne a week later.

Another potential double-header is on the cards, although The Scotsman understands that nothing has yet been confirmed, despite reports in the French media.
Scotland have been drawn in Pool D at the 2027 World Cup and will play Uruguay, Ireland and Portugal in the group stage.
Gregor Townsend's side could come up against France in the round of 16. If Scotland finish second in Pool D and France win their group, the sides would meet in Melbourne.
France have been drawn in Pool E with the United States, Japan and Samoa.
Despite this potential scenario, Scottish Rugby is believed to be comfortable with playing the two warm-up games against Fabien Galthie's side.
Scotland have a good home record against the French and beat them 50-40 at Murrayfield in this year’s Six Nations.
