Scotland and British and Irish Lions rugby legend Dougie Morgan was one of the increasing numbers who have died from coronavirus in care homes, it has been revealed.

Morgan’s son-in-law, the former Scotland centre and current coach of the Boroughmuir Bears, Graham Shiel told The Scotsman that Morgan, who died earlier this month at the age of 73 after a long illness, had contracted the virus.

Tributes have been pouring in since for Morgan, who won 21 caps for Scotland between 1973 and 1978 and captained the national team as well as playing two Tests for the Lions on the New Zealand tour in 1977.

Shiel won 18 caps for Scotland between 1991 and 2000.
