Celtic target Taylor’s head ‘turned’ by transfer talk

CELTIC could be dealt a boost in the chase for Bristol Rovers striker Matt Taylor, with reports down south suggesting the 26-year-old’s head has been turned by transfer talk linking him with a move away from the Memorial Stadium.

Celtic were linked with Taylor last month, with strikers Carlton Cole, Colin Kazim-Richards and Anthony Stokes all leaving Parkhead.

Taylor has scored 47 goals in 94 matches for the Pirates, and while Wigan and other Championship sides have been credited with an interest, Taylor could jump at the chance of European football if Celtic follow up their interest. (Various)

Kranjcar ‘will join Rangers’

NIKO Kranjcar looks all but set to be a Rangers player next season according to reports in Croatia.

The 31-year-old has reportedly told the Ibrox side that he will sign on the dotted line as he looks for a return to the UK from the USA, where he has been playing for New York Cosmos.

Should Kranjcar sign, he will link up again with former QPR team-mate Joey Barton. (Scottish Sun)

Lennon keen on Henderson return

NEIL Lennon dropped hints yesterday that he could attempt to re-sign Liam Henderson on loan for Hibernian for a second season.

Lennon gave the midfielder his Celtic debut and is known to be a big fan of Henderson, and said: “He’ll want to impress Brendan [Rodgers] and he’ll want to have a good look at him.

“It might be difficult. I don’t want to talk about players at other clubs at the minute.” (Evening Times)

ABERDEEN could look for help from Sir Alex Ferguson as they attempt to land Manchester United goalkeeper Sam Johnstone on loan.

Johnstone, who is likely to be third choice at best at Old Trafford with David De Gea and Sergio Romero ahead of him in the pecking order, could go out on loan again next season, and the Dons are reportedly keen on the 20-year-old.

He has had spells at Oldham, Yeovil, Scunthorpe, Preston and Doncaster and Derek McInnes is keen to get a ‘keeper in sharpish, after releasing Scott Brown and Adam Collin having returned to Rotherham.

The Dons are also keeping tabs on out-of-contract Kilmarnock midfielder Craig Slater. (Daily Express)

Fulham to hold Stokes talks

FULHAM are the latest side to be linked with Anthony Stokes, after the striker was released by Celtic.

The Irishman is supposedly out of Hibernian’s price range - Neil Lennon said yesterday: ‘I doubt we could do Stokesy financially’ - but Championship clubs such as Rotherham, Leeds and Birmingham have all been linked with the former Sunderland striker. (Various)

Boden joins Inverness CT

RICHIE Foran has made his first signing for Inverness Caledonian Thistle after striker Scott Boden agreed a deal to move north.

The 26-year-old, who started his career at Sheffield United, had an early loan stint at IFK Mariehamn in Finland, as well as spells with Chesterfield, Macclesfield, Alfreton, Halifax and Newport County.

He notched 13 goals in 45 matches for Newport last season, as well as scoring 21 and ten in the previous two seasons respectively.

ROSS County have thrown out a bid for Jackson Irvine from Burton Albion, after the Australian was linked with the Championship new boys.
