The Caley Thistle players and staff were stuck in traffic near Blair Atholl in Perthshire after a serious road accident closed a stretch of the A9 on Friday afternoon. The team bus eventually got moving but had to stop in Perth late in the evening as the driver had a break. The travelling party only arrived at their Dumfries hotel at 3am.

Inverness asked for the game to be postponed but were informed that it had to go ahead with Robertson’s players showing great determination and character to earn a point.

Manager Robertson saluted his shattered squad and said his thoughts were with those affected by the accident. However, he had little good to say about Blair following their 13-hour nightmare and insisted it was a “disgrace” that they were told to play.

He said: “I’m delighted with the way they responded. What they have gone through shouldn’t be put on any team. For Ian Blair to say the game must go on regardless of what time we get in Dumfries is an absolute disgrace. He told us we had to play. I’m not happy with the league at all.”

Caley Thistle had a penalty claim turned down when Charlie Trafford went down in the box under a Jordan Marshall challenge.
