Melbourne Rebels’ rebel puts team in more distress

The Melbourne Rebels have vowed to stick by Kurtley Beale despite the playmaker’s latest off-field misdemeanour.

The 24-year-old has been suspended for Melbourne’s game with the Blues this weekend for breaching “behavioural guidelines”.

The nature of the Australia stand-off’s indiscretion has not been revealed but it comes just two months after was suspended after an altercation with his captain and a team-mate on the team bus.

He only returned to training in April after a programme to deal with alcohol-related issues.

Rebels chief executive Rob Clarke said: “All of us make mistakes. As long as we learn from those mistakes and are supported by people who want to see the best of us, that’s certainly what we have in mind with Kurtley.”
