Jed-Forest perfect ladies’ men in Murrayfield win

SCOTT Raeburn ran in two tries in the first half to help Jed-Forest on their way to a 41-0 win over Murrayfield Wanderers in RBS Championship B on Saturday.

It was Ladies Day at Riverside Park and the home side put on a show for the expectant crowd, Chris Laidlaw and Graham Slorance also scoring tries before the break as they went 22-0 up and secured the bonus point.

After the interval, further tries from Graham Robson, Declan Wallace and Monty Mitchell made sure of the victory and gave Jed their fifth win from five matches since relegation.

Howe of Fife are still hot on their heels at the top after a 61-7 home win over Haddington, while Musselburgh are third after a 27-14 away win to Lasswade.

James Doig scored two tries for Burgh at Hawthornden, with Josh James and player/coach Andrew Binikos also crossing and Danny Owenson kicking seven points.

Aaron Johnston and Ross Neil both scored two tries as Livingston defeated Hawick YM 25-0, while Kirkcaldy won 32-23 at Aberdeenshire.

In RBS Championship A, Cartha Queens Park stayed out on top, but were made to battle by Greenock Wanderers at Dumbreck.

The home side eventually won an entertaining encounter 27-24, while Marr are second still after winning 4-0 in Dumfries. Andrew Mill, Gregor Ness, Conor Bickerstaff and Scott Bickerstaff scored Marr’s tries in the first half. After the interval, both Bickerstaff brothers completed their doubles.

Whitecraigs sit third after they edged out winless West of Scotland 23-21 at Burnbrae, while Ardrossan Accies managed to see off Falkirk 32-25.

Dalziel are still looking for their first win of the season after Hamilton travelled to Dalziel Park and managed to secure a 30-10 victory.
