Italy prop banned for stamping on Scotland's Duncan Taylor

Italy prop Martin Castrogiovanni has been banned for two weeks for stamping on Scotland's Duncan Taylor in the 36-20 RBS Six Nations defeat in Rome.

The 34-year-old prop came on as a second-half replacement at the Stadio Olimpico and later appeared to direct a stamp towards Taylor’s foot.

Castrogiovanni admitted to the offence at a disciplinary hearing held in London on Wednesday and was issued with a fortnight’s suspension.

The sanction means the Test centurion will miss the game with Ireland on 12 March, but is available to face Wales seven days later.
