'I hope to see you soon' - New club revealed for 79-cap Scotland ace

Experienced second row will leave Warriors at end of November

Japanese side Toyota Verblitz have announced the signing of experienced Scotland lock Richie Gray from Glasgow Warriors.

Gray’s departure from Scotstoun was announced earlier this month, with the 35-year-old’s move to the Japanese top flight widely anticipated. It has now been confirmed that he will play for Toyota Verblitz next season, teaming up with players such as South Africa flanker Pieter-Steph du Toit and All Blacks duo Aaron Smith and Beauden Barrett.

“I'm happy to be here,” Gray said of his new club. “I look forward to meeting you all and working hard to be part of a successful environment and successful Verblitz team. I hope to see you soon.”

Gray remains part of the Glasgow Warriors squad until the end of November, before making the move to Asia. Capped 79 times by Scotland, the defending URC champions are expected to sign a replacement at second row, with Scarlets’ Alex Craig heavily linked with the club.
