Heriot's 15 - 43 Emerging Italy XV: Italians do double

Heriot's battled gamely but were ultimately outgunned by a powerful Emerging Italy side packed with full-time players, some with full international experience, in yesterday's second leg of the Scottish-Italian Challenge.

Ewan Fox opened the scoring with a penalty for the BT Premiership champions before the visitors bagged tries by Matteo Minozzi and Alberto Chillon – the latter converted. Michael Liness dotted down for the hosts but a Polo Pescetto penalty handed the Italians a 15-8 interval lead.

The Italians had further scores by Matteo Gabbianelli, Simone Marinaro, Sebastian Negri and Minozzi, while Heriot’s responded with a converted Gavin Parker try.

The Italians also won the first leg, 50-33.
