The 24-year-old, who has 26 caps for his country, will join from Zebre in the summer on a deal that will keep him at Scotstoun until May 2018.

Sarto has become a regular in the Italian side, featuring in all four pool games at last year’s World Cup and the first three of this year’s Six Nations. He made a tryscoring debut against Scotland in the quadrangular tournament in South Africa during the summer of 2013.

The Italian will bring Test experience to the backline, with wing Taqele Naiyaravoro leaving the club to head back to Australia after just one year of a three-year contract at the end of the season.

Sarto told glasgowwarriors.org: “Glasgow Warriors are a massive club and play a great style of rugby.

“I’ve always known Glasgow is a great club and I know Simone Favaro is enjoying it there. I hear the fans love him and I hope I will have a similarly good relationship with them when I move over.”

Warriors head coach Gregor Townsend added: “Leonardo has been one of the best wingers in the GUINNESS PRO12 over the past few seasons and has an ability to break tackles.

“He has also performed well at Test level and had an excellent all-round game against Scotland last month.

“We believe that he will make further improvements in our environment and will add to the competition for places in our backline.”
