Glasgow drop back in race for play-offs

GLASGOW’s miserable weekend was compounded on Saturday when Leinster beat Munster to move into second place in the RaboDirect Pro12 table with just two games to go.

A win over Ospreys at Scotstoun on Friday would seal a play-off place for Gregor Townsend’s men, who are currently third. But they now have to rely on either Leinster or Ulster dropping points to have a chance of earning a home semi-final, and defeat in their final two matches could push them out of the play-offs altogether.

Brian O’Driscoll scored the decisive try for Leinster in a 22-16 victory at Thomond Park, going over with nine minutes remaining. Ospreys climbed into a play-off position with a 28-3 victory over Treviso, putting them in fourth place ahead of Scarlets on points difference. Stand-off Dan Biggar scored 18 points in the win at Swansea, while Cardiff Blues overpowered the other Italian team in the competition, Zebre, 28-13 at Cardiff Arms Park.
