Future of Scotland sevens squad in doubt
The Scots finished sixth in the Toyko Sevens last weekend, a performance which included a win over Australia.
However, governing body World Rugby wants to scrap the Glasgow leg of the HSBC-sponsored sevens circuit and next month’s could be the last.

Hide AdThe Scotstoun tournament makes a contribution to the cost of running a sevens squad and it is understood that if the Glasgow Sevens are cancelled the Scotland squad may follow suit.
A spokesman for the SRU last night said the team is “not under threat, but under review”.
The union is still trying to persuade World Rugby to preserve the Glasgow leg and defended the Scotstoun tournament as one of the “strongest” on the circuit. The short game was invented in Scotland, in Melrose.
