Ex-Scotland ace on what the 'huge' win over England meant for the country

Scotland winning their first match against England at Twickenham in 38 years was “huge”, both for the game and country.

Speaking ahead of the Six Nations clash with Wales at BT Murrayfield, former star John Barclay expressed what the 11-6 victory meant.

It brought delight up and down the country with the perfect start to the championship, while claiming the Calcutta Cup.

Scotland will be very buoyant which has been great,” Barclay, who made 76 national team appearances, said on the BBC.

“Last week was huge for the Scotland rugby team and the country. That’s the impact this sport has on in the game in the country so.

“They’ll be very excited but also have enough guys in that squad that are cautious , have been stung enough times to know that expectation can be quite heavy sometimes.”

The clash with Wales start at 4.45pm as Gregor Townsend’s men aim to make it five successive wins in the Six Nations.
