Edinburgh are poised to sign 23-year-old Glasgow lock Andrew Davidson after reportedly agreeing terms.

Official signings are yet to be confirmed in the current climate but it is understood to be a done deal and, in his last chat with the press in May,
Edinburgh coach Richard Cockerill said: “We’ve signed someone who is Scottish and a good player and he’ll do a good job for us.”

The Glaswegian made his Warriors debut in a pre-season friendly against Clermont Auvergne before being loaned to London Scottish by the Scottish Rugby Academy in 2015.

In 2016 his journey took him to Newcastle Falcons, where he made 28 appearances, before a return to Glasgow, initially on loan, two years
later. That deal was made
permanent for 2019/2020.

After featuring for Stirling County in the Super 6 this season Davidson is now bound for the capital.

It leaves the Glasgow Warriors engine room looking like a moveable feast when rugby gets back up and running under new head coach Danny Wilson following the departure of Dave Rennie to the
Wallabies.

Scotland veteran and Glasgow legend Richie Gray is heading home but Tim Swinson has retired, leaving impressive youngster Scott Cummings as one of the leaders of the pack.

With a change of management and the current coronavirus crisis, recruitment is clearly in a moment of stasis at the moment, though Edinburgh have been otherwise active with the signings of props Lee-Roy Atalifo and Dan Gamble, stand-offs Jono Lance and Nathan Chamberlain, centres Jordan Venter and Matt Gordon, and back-rower Ben Muncaster.
