Edinburgh Accies 18-15 Currie: Accies ride luck
“It’s nice to see them put everything we have done in training into practice. The thing we tried to get through to them was that they have potential,” said Leck. “For us to climb out of the mire we’ve got to be winners and in this game they have been winners.”
Leck is confident that Accies can now build momentum and pull away from the danger zone, adding: “We have the potential to still beat anybody in this league. We have had a little bit of luck in this one I think, which is probably the first time this year.”

His counterpart Ben Cairns was at a loss to explain the performance of his men who had produced a stylish win over Gala the previous week. “The attitude just wasn’t right,” he said. “Whether that’s because they thought they would just turn up and win I don’t know.”
Accies had more of the first-half possession but failed to capitalise on their pressure and it was Currie who led at the break, a penalty by James Semple being the only score of the first half.
The hosts then took the lead with a Jack Marples try early in the second period but that was cancelled out by a Ross Weston touchdown.
An Alex Glashan penalty squared matters but, when Weston crossed for a second time and Semple converted to put Currie ahead entering the final quarter, there was a feeling that the visitors would kick on to take the win.
However, Accies showed their battling qualities and cut the deficit to two points when Robin Snape powered over. And the triumph was secured after renewed pressure created the platform from which the ball was spun wide to Marples who squeezed in at the corner to snatch victory and leave Currie with only a narrow defeat bonus point to show for their efforts.
