Aberdeen eventually overpowered Edinburgh Accies and took the bonus point with an injury-time try that made the margin between the teams look much greater than it was, writes William Paul at Raeburn Place.

Accies produced some heroic defending to keep Aberdeen at bay, particularly during a ten-minute period when pinned down on their own line by scrum after scrum but somehow managed to escape without conceding any points.

But although Matt Coupar’s double was matched by tries by Erlend Oag and Steven Aitken and meant it was 12-12 at the break, Aberdeen blindside Greig Ryan went over on 75 minutes to establish a ten-point lead. Accies replied with a penalty before Aberdeen retained possession after the restart and, with the 80 minutes up, battered their way up to the Accies line for replacement prop Niki Fraser, pictured above, to grab his team’s fourth 
try.
