Currie 28 - 42 Stirling County: Stirling strong win

Stirling County secured a bonus-point win against Currie at Malleny Park in an entertaining nine-try encounter, writes Gary Heatly at Malleny Park.

The hosts had been dealt a late blow with captain Mark Cairns ruled out and it was County who started strongly,
taking the lead in the sixth minute.

Their first try came through Rory Hughes with Brian Archibald converting. Currie fought back and moved 10-7 up thanks to a try by Callum Kerr and five points from the boot of Joe Reynolds. A penalty from Reynolds and a try from Malcolm Peacock came for Currie before County scored a try through Jamie Swanson. Archibald then kicked eight points and Stuart Edwards slotted a neat drop goal as the visitors led 23-18 at the break. Eight minutes into the second half County scored their third try, Ben Addison intercepting and running in from 70 metres. Both sides swapped further tries, Kerr getting his second for Currie and replacement Matt Lamb securing County’s bonus.

Swanson’s second late on put the icing on the cake for County, before Karl Main’s try grabbed a losing bonus at the end for Currie.
