Chris Sutton: Willie Collum could call for Ryan Jack to be demoted

BT Sport pundit Chris Sutton has hit back at Rangers midfielder Ryan Jack over comments made about Sunday's Old Firm match official Willie Collum.

Jack believes the referee should be demoted to the lower leagues for his failure to award Rangers a free-kick in the build up to Celtic’s goal in the 1-0 defeat at Parkhead.

The Scottish international feels he was fouled by Celtic’s Tom Rogic on the edge of the opposing penalty area. Play was allowed to continue with the hosts going immediately down the other end, where Olivier Ntcham scored the only goal.

Jack said: “If you’re making mistakes time and time again, why should you be refereeing top games? Should he be put down the divisions? I think that’s what should 
happen.”

Sutton, however, has defended Collum by pointing out what he perceives to be a lack of self-awareness from Jack.

Writing on Twitter, he said: “Willie Collum could call for Ryan Jack to be demoted after being anonymous for most of the game on Sunday....”
