Championship rugby: Cartha Queens Park stay top

Leaders Cartha Queens Park had secured a bonus point by half-time against West of Scotland at Dumbreck and went on to secure a 38-8 victory.

Falkirk kept up the pressure in  second place, Gary Dempsey leading the way with two tries in their 35-15 win at Dalziel. The club’s October player of the month, Aubrey McCube, Gordon McGuire and Stuart Williamson also scored tries.

Tries from Gregor Ness and Steven Kirk and five points from the boot of Rory McGee saw third placed Marr  secure a 15-3 home victory over  Ardrossan Accies.

Hamilton, in fourth, put Dumfries to the sword at Laigh Bent.

The home side won 43-7 with tries coming from Andy Wilson, Jerry McKee, Stephen Turnbull, Craig Inglis, Ross Inglis and John Selfridge.

Whitecraigs edged out Greenock Wanders to leave them in fifth place and there are 11 points between them and Cartha.

The top three all won in RBS Championship B to extend the gap between themselves and the rest.

Musselburgh skipper James Doig returned in style for the visitors as he scored two early tries to see them on their way to a 33-10 win at Kirkcaldy.

Jed-Forest are seven points behind in second place after they defeated  Haddington 26-7 at Riverside Park. Donald Grieve was among the tryscorers, but a bonus point eluded them.

Howe of Fife went to Almond Park and they defeated Livingston 26-15 and are nine points adrift of Musselburgh.

Murrayfield Wanderers moved off bottom spot when they defeated Hawick YM 41-23, the Borderers now in tenth spot.

And Aberdeenshire’s 29-5 home win over Lasswade opened up a nine-point gap between themselves and the bottom three in the division.
