Bradford name ex-Livingston boss David Hopkin as new manager

Bradford have moved quickly to appoint a new manager after naming David Hopkin as Michael Collins' successor.

The Bantams fired Collins on Monday night after a poor start to the campaign and Hopkin was in position by Tuesday morning, signing a two-year deal.

The 48-year-old, who had a brief spell as a player at Valley Parade, has been out of work since leaving Scottish club Livingston in the summer.

He told the club’s official website: “I am absolutely delighted to be joining the Bantams and cannot wait to get started.

“This is a huge opportunity for me. We have a talented squad and I am looking forward to working with the players and staff.

“The club is ambitious and so am I. Although my time as a player here was cut short by injury, I enjoyed my stay and took away some great memories.

“Our supporters are extremely passionate and I want to give them a team and performances they can be proud of.”

Chairman Edin Rahic added: “We are very pleased to welcome David to the club.

“David received a great deal of admiration for his success in Scotland, with Livingston.

“He is very passionate about our club and is excited to be in charge.”

Hopkin becomes Bradford’s fourth manager in this calendar year, following on from Stuart McCall, Simon Grayson and Collins.

Hopkin has signed a two-year-deal at Bradford, having opted to leave Livi despite securing back-to-back promotions.

Hopkin made 16 playing appearances for City in a career which also took in the likes of Leeds, Chelsea, Crystal Palace and Morton.
