Bedwas 25 - 26 Stirling County: Stirling leave it late

A LATE converted try gave Stirling County a valuable win at Welsh club Bedwas, writes Caio Iwan at Bridge Field. Centre Danny Gilmore went over two minutes from time to earn the visitors victory in terrible conditions.

County came into the match having won only one out of their last four games – including a defeat in the reverse fixture last week.

Bedwas had led for most of the game courtesy of some slick passing and clinical finishing. But Stirling were kept in the game by the boot of stand-off Stuart Edwards, who was sin-binned within minutes of the kick-off, but eventually kicked over the winning conversion.

His father and County coach, Henry Edwards, said: “I’m chuffed with that performance, especially considering the conditions. They’re usually tough games in this competition and this one was no different. It was a great collective effort and this cup gives us a great chance to give some of the younger guys a chance. I thought Alex Blacks played very well in his first game for us this season.

“Ayr next week will be a good chance for us to improve our league position.”
