The 58-year-old Englishman had been preparing his squad to take part in Rugby World Cup 2023 in France next year.

There they will be in Pool B alongside Scotland, but Robinson will not be with them having said: “I feel that I have taken the Romanian team as far as I can after a series of disappointing results in the last six months on and off the field.”

Eugen Apjok has taken over as head coach while Scotsman Stevie Scott is staying on as forwards coach.
