Rugby: Trinity make it six in a row

Trinity ACCIES won their sixth East One game on the spin on Saturday to leave them as one of three local clubs who are still in with a shout of catching leaders Duns.

Their 24-3 home win over Hawick Harlequins means that they are now just eight points behind Duns in fourth place, while Lismore and Portobello are second and third respectively.

Paddy Traylor scored a cracking individual try to give Trinity the lead at Bangholm early on and, by the break, were 14-3 up with Stephen Hutchinson having added another converted try. In the second 40 minutes, Trinity's points came from a Jamie Watts try and Traylor's second of the afternoon.

Broughton lost their first match of the season in East Two, going down 33-0 at Gala YM. It means their lead at the top has been cut to four points with the Borderers second.

Leith saw off Liberton 8-3, Queensferry lost at Walkerburn and Edinburgh Northern beat Inverleith 14-0.
