Rugby: Scots sign up for Bristol

BRISTOL yesterday snapped up two Scots as they step up preparations for a return to the English top flight.

Coach Liam Middleton has lured veteran prop Bruce Douglas from Worcester and ex-Borders centre Bryan Rennie from Exeter. Bristol have earmarked the tough-tackling Rennie as a crucial figure in their midfield when they return to the Premiership. And they beat off the challenge of several other leading Premiership outfits and French sides to land the A-internationalist. Former Watsonians ace Rennie said: “I’m delighted to be moving to such an ambitious club. I can’t wait to get stuck in.”

Douglas, who earned 43 caps, heads for the Memorial Ground following spells in France and Wales.
