Rugby: Scots quartet in Six Nations dream team

FOUR Scots are worthy of inclusion in the "team of the Six Nations" the influential Planet Rugby website is claiming today.

They are Sean Lamont, Dan Parks, Al Kellock and Johnnie Beattie.

The award to Lamont, described as "a go-to man" should act as a warning to Edinburgh with his Llanelli Scarlets side due at Murrayfield in the Magners Celtic League on Friday.

As for the other back, Parks, the citation says: "Three man-of-the-match performances for his country with his most recent arguably his best for Scotland."

Up front most would agree that had the Lions been touring this summer Kellock and Beattie would have been instant picks.

Planet Rugby says of Beattie: "No.8 has been the hotly-contested jersey throughout but Beattie was the best with what was around him."

As for Kellock, tribute is paid to the way he terrorised opposition throwers at the line-out who will be glad to see the back of him. "Rory Best (Ireland) and Dylan Hartley (England) can finally relax," it is claimed.

Planet Rugby's team is: Poitrenaud, Bowe, O'Driscoll, Jauzion, S Lamont, Parks, Parra, Domingo, Servat, Mas, Nallet, Kellock, Dusautoir, Beattie, Wallace.

Meanwhile, Chris Cusiter has summed up Scotland's RBS Six Nations Championship in a word – "frustrating".

Under Cusiter's captaincy the Scots posted a win, a draw and three defeats, two narrowly.

Cusiter said: "It's been a frustrating tournament. We feel we could have won four out of five. (But) we take a lot of confidence from how we played.

"We go now to Argentina with a lot of confidence. The whole group has improved and we'll be better for this. There have been tough times but the squad has kept believing."
